DESCRIPTION
Glen Elgin 18 years old - A special release Speyside singlemalt whisky from the Glen Elgin for the Annual Diageo special releases series of 2017. Aged for 18 years in Ex-Bodega and refill European oak butts and made from two batches of malt using two different yeast strains. It was bottled in 2017 at natural cask strength and with a limited release of 5352 bottles. A distinguished example of a top class rated malt with a highly sophisticated, classic Speyside taste from a distillery that deserves to be better known.
TASTING NOTES
With pale bronze autumn sunlight color and a fresh, yet voluptous aroma and layers of fruit make this an enticing dram, with well balanced oak providing just enough spice. The palate is creamy and honeyed with orchard fruit and orange blossom and more honey is joined by nutty hints: almonds, almond skin and toffee-covered hazelnuts at the end.
