Ber-ry Much Needed Cocktails

 

The Ber months are here — and in Filipino terms, that means the Christmas season has already arrived! As the holidays begin and festivities come and go, here’s a new roster of berry cocktails you can master so you'll never run out of options to serve at your parties. Whether you’re hosting an intimate gathering or a lively celebration, these cocktails will add a splash of cheer to your holiday season.

 

  1. Blueberry Bourbon Smash

 

If you love blueberries and whiskey, then this drink is perfect for you! As easy as it is to make, it tastes like a celebration.

 

Ingredients:

  • 8-10 fresh blueberries
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 2oz Bourbon
  • 1oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1oz simple syrup

Instructions:

  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle 8-10 fresh blueberries and fresh mint leaves together. 
  • Add 2 oz Bourbon, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz simple syrup, and a handful of ice cubes to the shaker, and shake vigorously to combine. 
  • Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice cubes.

 

  1. Triple Berry Cocktail

 

There can never be enough berries! Why settle for just one in your drink when you can have three? Let everyone indulge in this berry-filled cocktail!

 

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of mixed berries, Blackberry, Blueberry, and Raspberry
  • 3 oz Tequila
  • 2 oz Rum
  • 1 oz Lime juice
  • 6 oz Raspberry Lemonade
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint for garnish

Instructions:

  • Put your fruit in a blender and puree the mixture. 
  • Then you will grab a glass and fill it with ice and set aside. 
  • In a cocktail shaker add a bit of ice and the Tequila, Rum, Raspberry lemonade, and lime, shake to combine.
  • Pour into the glasses.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of the berry puree into each glass and stir to combine.
  • Stir the triple berry cocktail, and then garnish with mint and serve.

 

  1. Berry Vodka

 

This cocktail is perfect for any time of the day – whether it’s a chill brunch or a midnight party, this will surely be a crowd hit.

 

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup fresh berries, (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and/or sliced strawberries)
  • 3 fresh basil leaves
  • 1½ ounces vodka
  • ½ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • ice, crushed or cubes
  • Club soda
  • Additional berries for garnish, (optional)

Instructions:

  • Muddle the berries and basil in a tall glass.
  • Pour in the vodka and lemon juice.
  • Add as much ice as desired.
  • Top off the glass with club soda.
  • Stir and garnish with additional fresh berries, if desired, and enjoy!

 

  1. Strawberry Rum Float

 

You know what makes cocktails better – ice cream! It’s like the adult version of a sweet treat. This feels like Christmas in a glass!

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lb strawberries, hulled (4 cups), plus 1 cup wedges for serving
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup, plus more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 4 small scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup white rum
  • 16 ounces club soda

Instructions:

  • In a blender, puree hulled strawberries, simple syrup, lemon juice and rum until smooth. 
  • Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing seeds to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard seeds. 
  • Add simple syrup to taste. 
  • Divide strawberry syrup among 4 tall glasses. 
  • Pour 4 ounces club soda into each glass and stir gently to combine. 
  • Divide strawberry wedges among glasses and top with ice cream. 
  • Serve immediately with long straws and spoons.

 

  1. The Mosé 

 

Christmas is truly here because who would’ve thought that we can combine the best elements of margarita and the fun side of rosé!

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 strawberries, hulled, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounce dry rosé

Instructions:

  • Muddle strawberries and sugar in a cocktail shaker until lightly crushed. 
  • Add tequila, lemon juice, rosé, and a single large ice cube. 
  • Cover and shake until outside of the shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. 
  • Pour drink with ice cube into a rocks glass (do not strain).
