How to Survive a Hangover?

Payday weekend just passed, and we wouldn’t be surprised if you had a few too many drinks. Now it’s the first Monday of a brand new month, and we all know what that means – a huge load of deliverables. But how can you tackle them with a hangover? If only we could enjoy all the drinks we want without the dreaded aftereffects, life would be so much easier. Well, we've got you covered! Here are some ways to survive a hangover after a fun weekend.

  1. Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate even more!

Did you know that alcohol is a diuretic? This means it causes the body to lose water the more you drink. That’s why it's so helpful to drink lots of water to help your body recover. Another option to keep you hydrated is coconut water. Since coconut water contains electrolytes like potassium and magnesium, it can help replenish your body’s needs after a night of drinking. Remember to avoid sugary drinks, as they will only make things worse.

  1. Eat, but do it right!

Speaking of helping your body regain the nutrients it needs, eating a nutritious meal can help you get through your hangover. Opt for protein and complex carbohydrates, such as grilled chicken and brown rice, to provide essential nutrients and aid recovery. If you prefer something lighter, bland snacks can also be beneficial. Choose toast or crackers to boost your blood sugar and settle your stomach. If you don’t feel like eating at all, turn your vegetables into juice!

  1. Go out and get fresh air!

As much as you might want to stay in bed all day, getting some fresh air can be very beneficial for reducing hangover symptoms. We all know the feeling of being hot and stuffy after drinking, and a walk outside to inhale fresh air can help reset both your mind and body. Plus, did you know that sunlight can boost your mood and energy levels? Do yourself a favor — get up and go out into the world! You will surely thank yourself later.

  1. Take a pain reliever!

Standard pain relievers like paracetamol can help you get through the headache or other pain caused by alcohol. However, you should be cautious with their use; aspirin and ibuprofen can irritate your stomach and potentially make you feel worse than you already do. If you’re unsure which medication to take, consult a healthcare professional for the best advice. Be sure that you have eaten too, before taking your pain relievers.

  1. Our favorite remedy – sleep!

When all else fails, sleep can be your greatest ally in overcoming a hangover. A good night’s rest allows your body to recover from the aftereffects of drinking. Since alcohol disrupts your sleep pattern, make sure to get at least eight hours of sleep for the best chance at a full recovery. Creating a restful environment, free from distractions, can help you get the most out of your sleep. We hope that the nasty hangover you had is now a thing of the past. Here's to a month filled with good vibes and all the happiness you can handle. Cheers!
